Male and Female of the year competition

Welsh Black Cattle Society Bull and Female of the Year   

This prestigious competition is sponsored by the Farmer's Union of  Wales and runs throughout the summer show season. There are 17 shows nominated in the competition and members exhibiting at these shows qualify for points towards the Society competition for Bull & Female of the Year. 

At each of the shows points are awarded to the first 3 winners of each class. Points are also awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion of each sex. The Royal Welsh Show and the Welsh Black Cattle Society’s National Show both award double points.

Points are awarded as follows: - 1st – 3 points, 2nd – 2 points and 3rd – 1point. Each Champion receives 6 points and each Reserve Champion 4 points.

Whilst members may attend as many shows as they wish during the season the competition allows points from 8 shows. For any member attending more than 8 shows points will be taken from the 8 best show results.

The Farmer's Union of Wales award engraved glass trophies to each highest placed Male & female exhibit in the classes at each show. Each animal may only win one trophy during the season.

The final winners are presented with prizes at the Welsh Black Cattle Society AGM.
