A bull bred in North Wales. but owned and exhibited by South Wales breeders, Seisiog Cymro 61 from Gwynfryn and Marian Phillips of Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, has become the Welsh Black Cattle Society’s Bull of the Year.

The new Welsh Black Young Ambassador is 26-year-old Rhys Owen of Rhosgawen, Saron, near Caernarfon, who is employed by the Snowdownia National Park as a farm conservation officer.

The Welsh Black Cattle Society was formed in 1904. During 2004 the Society is celebrating it's centenary of recording pedigree Welsh Black cattle.

Bala farmer, Mrs Gwenfair Jones took over as president of the Welsh Black Cattle Society when members gathered at Thame in Oxfordshire, for their 2003 annual meeting.
