Leading Breeders Top Pedigree Store Sale at Dolgellau
On Friday the 6th of November 2009 the Welsh Black Cattle Society held their second Pedigree store sale of the autumn at Dolgellau cattle market. Over 200 head of Pedigree Welsh Black store cattle went under the hammer which showed their popularity in the region.
Trade was brisk with leading Pedigree breeders showing the way. There is great demand for Welsh Black store cattle by fatteners looking for quality animals for their designated outlets. These cattle were excellently presented by breeders, which is a credit to them and in turn reflects on market value.

1. £30 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Pen of 4 or more Steers
5 pedigree steers aged 16 months of age weighing at 545kg a head were sold for £928 each, these animals were bred by Mrs Gwenfair Jones & Sons, Hafod yr Esgob, Bala,Gwynedd, LL23 7EU
2. £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Pair of Steers
Pair of organic steers’ 18 months of aged weighing at 505kg a head was sold for £842 a head and were sold by Mr E Jones, Lluest wen, Commins coch, Mychynlleth, Powys.
3. £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Single Steer
At £930 a 25 month old single steer weighing at 620kg was sold by Mr W R P Jones & Co, Ysguboriau, Tywyn.
4. £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Heifer
At 29 months of age this well presented pedigree heifer weighing at 600kgs reached well respected price of £755 bred and sold by Mr R I Edwards, Bryn Sion, Cwm Cywarch,Dinas Mawddwy, Powys
5. £10 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Animal ( pence per kilo)
At £1.91 a kilo the highest priced steer or heifer went to a par of Pedigree steers bred and sold by Mr T W Williams & Co , Caerynwch, Dolgellau, Gwynedd.LL40 2R
