FIRE CRACKER OF A HEIFER SETS FEMALE TRADE ALIGHT

The champion female at the Welsh Black Cattle Society’s 50^th autumn show and sale held at Dolgellau market topped the trade at 3,400gns. Bred by Mr William P Jones of Tywyn, the 2½ year old heifer, Ysguboriau Vera 53^rd, was snapped up by Mr Sion Wyn Jones for his Perthi herd based at Penisarwaun. The heifer, sired by Machreth Banner 7^th, is in-calf to the 11,000gns Caerynwch Major 4^th, and due to calve next spring.

Royal Welsh Winter Fair 2011

Everyone was blessed this year with exceptional weather for the Royal Welsh Winter Fair with the temperature being around 30 degrees higher than last year. The Welsh Black Cattle Society was also blessed with exceptional stock in all sections, with many Welsh Black members well in the running for top honours.

The Third Welsh Black World Conference 2012

The third Welsh Black Cattle Society World Conference will be from 10^th August to 19^th August 2012, starting at Hamburg Airport. The price will be 1,000 Euro for a double room and 1,400 Euro for a single room. Included in the price will be hotels, (breakfast, lunch, dinner), transfer from and to the airport and the bus tour through Northern Germany.

PRIZE DRAW WINNERS SPREAD EVENLY BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH WALES!

The draw for the Welsh Black Cattle Society’s Grand Raffle run by the Counties of Denbighshire and Flintshire took place on the second day of The Royal Welsh Winter Fair in the main cattle ring. The companies who had donated the prizes were represented and in the most part drew the tickets for their prize. Mr Geraint Wynne, President of the Welsh Black Cattle Society stood in for the two companies who had no representative present.

Abergavenny Pedigree & Store Sale

Completing a busy week of Sales in Abergavenny, J Straker, Chadwick & Sons held the 11^th Annual Show & Sale for the Welsh Black Cattle Society.A quality entry attracted a strong contingent of buyers from many parts of the Country.

The Third Welsh Black World Conference 2012

Not included is lunch on the free days in Hamburg, Berlin and Bremerhaven. Some meals will be served on the farms as snacks, lunch or dinner.

Would all those interested in joining the trip please contact the Builth Wells office as numbers will be required by 31 December 2011, with a payment of 200 Euro/person.

The Itinerary

10th August Arrival Hamburg

11th August              Free Hamburg
                                 7.00 pm opening World Conference in Lübberstedt on the
                                 Schüttenhof of Marlene and Hermann Maack where the first Welsh Black
                                 arrived in 1985.Overnight stay Hamburg.

12th August Visiting the farms of Andreas Frahm and Olaf Eckert in Lunch, overnight stay
in Waren.

13th August             Looking for the herd of Michael Lars, travelling to PassowVisiting the farm of
                               Roland Kauschke, where we can see 25 Welsh Black cows, 900 Simmentaler
                                and Uckermärker Cows and 900 dairy cows. Overnight stay Berlin.

14th August Sightseeing Berlin, free day.Overnight stay Berlin.

15th August            Travelling to Markus Röthel, Gottsdorf, looking for his Welsh Black herd and
                               his water-mill. Then travelling 3 hours to Rudolf Michaelis and Jörg Hacke,
                               viewing their herds. Visiting the Hundertwasser-Railway-station in Uelzen.
                               Overnight stay Uelzen.

16th August            Visiting a ship lifting system, travelling to Frank Mahn-ken in Eversen. His
                              farm is on an old Millitary-Base, viewing his herd, barbecue. Overnight stay
                              Bremen.

17th August Travelling to Reinhard Wullbrandt and Dieter Wehebrink Rahden. Overnight
stay Bremen.

18th. August In the morning visiting the artist-village Worpswede. Afternoon visiting the
farm of Hans and Birgit Stucke, Lox- stedt. Overnight stay Bremerhaven.

19th August Free Bremerhaven. Finishing World Conference in the Sail City Hotel.
Overnight stay Bremerhaven.
