Evan takes Chair for two more years
The Welsh Black Cattle Society has chosen Gwynedd farmer, Evan Tudor, to continue as Chairman of its Council for another two years.
Mr Tudor, who is immediate past President of the Society, was re-elected to the post at a recent meeting of the Council, which also chose Powys farmer John Pratt as Vice Chairman.
The Aber Herd of pedigree Welsh Black cattle was established in 1940 by Mr Tudor at his farm in Trawsfynydd, which he runs with his wife Gwyneth.
A stirling supporter of the Society's sales in Dolgellau, Mr Tudor is also a well known cattle judge, and judged the Welsh Black entries at the 2003 Royal Welsh Show.
His role as Chairman has seen him undertake a variety of duties including unveiling a 1.5 tonne statue of a Welsh Black bull in Builth Wells, and escorting Society Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall around the newly built Cig Calon Cymru abattoir in Cross Hands.
Taking on the role as Council Vice Chairman is John Pratt who farms at Talgarth near Brecon. He is also President-Elect of the Society and his Cwrt -Rawlin herd of pedigree polled Welsh Blacks was established in 1975.
In May 2007, Mr Pratt will take over as President, with the aim being, of promoting Welsh Blacks world-wide, and will be sponsoring the Oakhampton Show in Devon next August, enabling the Society to have a presence in the West Country.
Mr Pratt has also recently been appointed leader of the United Kingdom Independent Party (UKIP) in Wales.
