Leading Breeders top Pedigree Store Sale at Dolgellau


The Welsh Black Cattle Society held their second pedigree store sale of the autumn at Dolgellau cattle market on 7 November 2008.

Over 200 head of pedigree Welsh Black store cattle went under the hammer which showed their popularity in the region. Trade was brisk with leading pedigree breeders showing the way. These cattle were excellently presented by breeders, which didn't reflect this summer's poor weather conditions.

The results:

•  £30 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Pen of 4 or more Steers
4 pedigree steers aged between 16-18 months of age weighing at 535kg a head were sold for £690 each, these animals were bred by Mr W R P Jones & Co, Ysguboriau, Tywyn. 01654710321
 
•  £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Pair of Steers
Pair of steers' 18 months of aged weighing at 530kg a head were sold for £698 a head and were sold by Mr E Hughes, Eugrad, Bryn Teg, Ynys Mon, LL78 7JF 07770794669
 
•  £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Single Steer
At £705 a single steer weighing at 570kg was sold by Mr Ken Ellis ai Feibion, Ynysfor, Bryncurg, Tywyn, Gwynedd LL36 9NU. 01654711828
 
•  £20 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Heifer
At 19 months of age this well presented pedigree heifer weighing at 395kgs reached well respected price of £462 bred and sold by Mr AL Jones, Cerrig Gweanydd, Harlech, Gwynedd , LL46 2YT . 01766780258.
 
•  £10 Voucher awarded to the highest priced Animal (pence per kilo)
At £1.60 a kilo the highest priced steer or heifer went to a group of 4 Pedigree steers bred and sold by Mr T W Williams & Co , Caerynwch, Dolgellau, Gwynedd.LL40 2RF 01341423215
