Dolgellau Store sale

 

There was a buoyant store sale in Dolgellau on Friday, 24 April 2015 at a Special Store Sale which included 135 Welsh Blacks.

Taking the top price of the day of £1,375, in all of the breeds on offer, were two steers from DG & B Thomas, Aberdyfnant, Llanddeusant, Caerfyrddin. They sold to DA& MEM Lewis, Cwm Gwyn Farm, Llanymddyfri.  

The second top price was £1,250 for a pen of four animals from the same vendor, selling to the same buyer.  

There were quite a few over the thousand mark and the cattle on offer were of good quality.

Heifers also sold for good money and top price on the day was £1,145 for a heifer from Partneriaid, Cefnbodig, Llanycil, Bala. This heifer sold to Mr TE Gittins, Trefnanney, Meifod, Powys.

Second top price was £1,120 for a pair from LL Roberts, Waterloo Service Station, Penrefail Cross Roads which sold to Mr Emyr Williams, Delfryn, Llithfaen, Gwynedd.

The top price ‘pence per kilo’ was 272.9p and this also went to a Welsh Black, a 8 month old steer weighing 340kg selling for £928  from Mr SW Jones, Tyddyn Perthi, Penisarwaun, Gwynedd.  The buyer was Mr M Winterton, Newstead Farm, South Croxton Road, Leicester.

 Averages:  Steers   95 @ £993.63
